Bernard Raskin, M.D.
Dr. Bernard Raskin, an expert in dermatology and cosmetic surgery, graduated from UCLA with a bachelors degree in physics. He graduated from the prestigious California Irvine Medical School University of California at Irvine and Long Beach Veteran’s Administration Hospital. He also completed a dermatology residency at one of the nation’s premier dermatology training programs at UCLA.
Board Certified in both dermatology and internal medicine, Dr. Raskin is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine Division of Dermatology at UCLA, with responsibilities including teaching dermatologic surgery, liposuction, laser and cosmetic surgery to dermatologists in training. Dr. Raskin is on the advisory committee in Cancer and Developmental Biology at California State University Northridge. He holds fellowships in the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery. American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. American Society of Dermatology, and the L.A. County and California Medical Associations.
Dr. Raskin is also a qualified medical evaluator for the Industrial Medical Council, State of California, and an expert reviewer for the California State Medical Board. His list of medical accomplishments also includes being a consultant to various health insurance programs, inventing and developing his own medical instruments and founding and leading his own company, Surgiguide Products. Throughout his career, Dr. Raskin has been a researcher and has published scientific articles on liposuction as well as co-authoring chapters in textbooks on cutaneous surgery and laser surgery. In addition, Dr. Raskin founded Mohs Micrographic Surgery Center of America and has performed Mohs micrographic surgery for over 20 years on patients with skin cancer.
Shilesh Iyer, M.D.
Dr. Shilesh Iyer. is a Board Certified Dermatologist who earned his B.A. in Molecular Biophysics and Economics at Yale and graduated with honors from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. lyer completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Harvard Medical School and trained in dermatology at UCLA, where three years running he received the Outstanding Resident Award and where he also served as Chief Resident in Dermatology.
Dr. lyer’s considerable training and fields of expertise include skin resurfacing, laser surgery, liposuction, Botox therapy, soft tissue augmentation and skin cancer surgery.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Society for Mohs Surgery.
Shawn Abrishamy, M.D.
Dr. Shawn Abrishamy has been delivering excellent medical and dermatologic care since 2005. He received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine residency from Kern Medical Center, an affiliate of the prestigious University of California Irvine College of Medicine.
Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Abrishamy maintains memberships in professional organizations such as the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Abrishamy specializes in tattoo removal and has extensive training and experience in cosmetic dermatology.
Outside of the office, Dr. Abrishamy enjoys snowboarding, surfing and motorcycle riding.
Eva Hernandez, P.A.-C
Eva Hernandez brings over eight years of experience and excellent care to Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Care. She received her undergraduate education from Florida International University in Miami, Florida and California State University in Long Beach and earned her Physician’s Assistant degree from Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles.
Ms. Hernandez holds certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants and is also a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
She specializes in general dermatology, skin cancer, acne and cosmetic dermatology, including sclerotherapy, Botox and dermal fillers. In addition, Ms. Hernandez performs laser therapy, provides treatment for photodamage and treats tattoos, birthmarks, vascular lesions and scars.
Julissa Forte, RN
Julissa graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College where she received her BS in Nursing. Her career started at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles and in 2002 she joined the Advanced Dermatology team where she provides excellent care to all of our patients.
Julissa treats medical dermatology patients and performs liquid nitrogen treatment for pre-cancerous lesions and also removes skin tags. She works in our on-site Ambulatory Surgical Center recovering our surgical patients and she provides excellent cosmetic care with Botox, dermal fillers, and several types of laser therapy, including skin tightening, laser hair and tattoo removal.
Cynthia A. Smith, L.M.E.
Cynthia Smith brings six years of medical esthetic experience to Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Care. She attended Newberry School of Cosmetology in Granada Hills, California. After graduation she continued to work at the Newberry School, and assisted in cosmetology instruction. Cynthia also has twenty years of a diverse social services background.
Cynthia specializes in skin treatments using peeling agents such as TCA, Mélange, Vitalize, salicylic, and glycolic, for the treatment of post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, photo aging, melasma, and acne scaring. In addition she also performs treatments for acne, microdermabrasion, extractions, and eye brow shaping. Cynthia customizes treatment plans and home kits to ensure a comprehensive outcome and she is also well versed with make-up application and color matching.
Soheil Simzar, M.D.
Dr. Simzar, a board-certified dermatologist, completed his undergraduate, medical school, Internal Medicine, and Dermatology training at UCLA Medical Center and its affiliate hospitals. He is a clinical instructor of dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and teaches medical and surgical dermatology to the dermatology residents and medical students. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Simzar continued his education with a fellowship in cosmetic dermatology and specializes in the use of Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse, Juvederm, Sculptra, sclerotherapy, and various lasers for unwanted hair, pigmentation, tattoos or redness. Furthermore, Dr. Simzar also has extensive expertise and surgical training in Mohs skin cancer surgery. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is a recipient of the American Academy of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptorship Grant. An experienced researcher, Dr. Simzar is a published author in several peer-reviewed journals, has presented at national conferences, and is an active member of various cosmetic and dermatological surgery societies including the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Mohs Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.
