What is Kybella and what can it do for me?

Kybella, approved by the FDA, is injected directly into the chin to destroy fat cells.  Kybella will contour the shape of your lower face by eliminating fat, resulting in a more defined chin and jawline.  The severity of submental fullness varies in both men and women. Depending on the severity, the right candidate may need 2 to 6 treatments.  Kybella’s main active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, destroys fat.  Deoxycholic acid is a similar synthetic version of a molecule that your body produces naturally to break down fat.  When injected, fat membranes are destroyed and absorbed into the body.

What is the procedure like?

We first require that you come in for a free consultation to see if you are a good candidate for Kybella.  When you arrive for the procedure, pictures will be taken for documentation, next the area will be numbed with ice. After a grid of tiny dots is transferred onto the skin.  This grid directs the provider exactly where to inject the solution. The series of injections takes 5 to 10 minutes.  Swelling and redness are common after treatment and can last up to 4 weeks.

When will I see results?

KyBella treatments are typically done 2 to 6 times every 6 weeks to achieve desired results. Swelling can last 3 to 4 weeks after each session. Final results can take 12 to 18 weeks to see depending on the number of treatments one receives.  Slight improvement may be seen after each treatment but patients typically do not see marked improvement until after their second treatment.
